Preheat oven to 350°. Spread hazelnuts on a baking sheet and toast for approximately 6 to 8 minutes. Be sure to watch the nuts as they approach 6 minutes because hazelnuts will quickly go from toasted to scorched. Remove hazelnuts from oven and set aside to cool.
In a sauté pan over medium heat, melt butter. Add sliced pears and sauté until pears are soft, about 5 to 7 minutes.
Scoop about 1 cup of ice cream into each serving dish and top with an equal portion of pears, toasted hazelnuts and 1 tablespoon of warmed caramel sauce. Serve
