  How to Slice a Cake

The Basic Slice
To impress your guests with a clean slice and to keep your precious icing in tact, we suggest using a thin, sharp blade, and cutting straight down to the bottom. When the slice is free, slide it straight out (not up!), then lift. Voila!

Cheesecake Slicing
To make a “clean” slice, dip the blade in warm water and wipe the blade between each slice.

Slicing Layer Cakes
To make the perfect layer cake, use sturdy thread or unflavored dental floss. Wrap a length around the cake (you can use toothpicks as a guide), cross the ends and pull together.

Chilled Cakes
Place your cake in the fridge for 30 minutes before you plan to cut your cake in order to maximize your slice.
