Ham Leftovers

Instead of thinking of Holiday Ham as a dreaded leftover, think of it as an inspiration for a variety of delicious dishes.  Both our petite spiral hams and full-size bone-in spiral hams have a sweet brown sugar exterior that pairs wonderfully with the ham’s naturally salty flavor – a combination that makes it a versatile ingredient that’s great for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  


Western Omelet -Start your morning off with a combination of delicious diced ham, green peppers, onion, cheddar cheese and our TFM Omega-3 Eggs.


Split Pea Soup -With just four ingredients, this hearty yet simple soup is a great way to soak up all the flavors from your leftover ham bone.
Directions: In a medium pot, sauté 1 cup of onions in 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Place a whole ham bone and a pound of our Vann’s dried split peas in the pot and add enough water until the contents are covered. Cook over medium heat until the peas have broken down into a green liquid (about 2 hours). Remove from heat and let the soup thicken. Reheat and serve with sandwiches or on its own!

Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwiches - Cheese is the perfect compliment to leftover ham, especially when it’s sandwiched between two slices of bread, lightly buttered and grilled until golden brown. For a classic grilled ham and Swiss sandwich, pair ham with Swiss Emmenthaller, a sharp, full-flavored Swiss cheese that is both nutty and rich. Or try something a little different and combine ham with Fontina cheese and fresh, steamed asparagus.
