Best gift for family members when a loved one is in a hospital
Waiting and worrying, then recuperating and rehabbing comprise the daily life of caregivers for several months while a loved one is in a hospital. From eating comfort (junk) foods in waiting rooms, fast foods in cars, cafeteria food in hospitals, gift casseroles when at home, and too many meals in restaurants, the mainstay of a caregivers diet generally lacks fresh fruit and crunchy vegetables.
The best gift I received when my husband was at Shepherd Center in Atlanta was a gift card for the Fresh Market across the street from the hospital. I could get in and out of Fresh Market with a nutty chicken salad and a juicy naval orange (okay, and some salt water taffy) faster than I could go through Shepherd Center's cafeteria line at dinner hour.
I was able to share healthy snacks with other family members and I even brought pretty flowers into my husband's room. For comfort food nothing beats a bag of Fresh Market's giant pistachios.
A Fresh Market gift certificate is the way to go when a family member is hospital bound.

This is a great gift for a granddaughter who is just starting her life after college and not making a lot. I want her to eat healthy.
