Goat Cheese 101

Earthy, rich and wonderfully versatile, goat cheese has a lot to offer. Its flavors and textures run the gamut—from mild to tangy, crumbly to creamy. You can serve it in salads, use it to top pizza, pair it with honey and apples or slather it on a warm toasted bagel.

Led by one of our long-time directors, Diane Cleven, our cheese experts ensure we always offer a wide selection of the very best cheese you can find. If you’re new to the goat variety, Diane recommends starting with a flight that ranges from mild to tangy. This will help you distinguish the nuances of each and discover your favorites.

Drunken Goat This unique variety is cured in red wine, giving the outside a lovely violet hue. It’s sweet and smooth, with a mild, fruity flavor. It won’t give you a buzz, but it does pair nicely with a medium-bodied red.

Cypress Grove Midnight Moon® Imported from Holland, this Gouda-like cheese is smooth and dense. It’s aged for at least six months and has nutty, brown-butter flavors with a caramel finish. As it ages, protein crystals form, lending a slight crunch to every bite.
