Malbec Poached Cherries with Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle Malbec
  • ¼ c honey
  • 1 orange peel
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 c fresh red cherries

Directions

In a saucepan, add the malbec, honey, orange peel, orange juice, and cinnamon sticks. Stir and cook over medium high heat until it comes to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.

Add the cherries, stir occasionally, and cook for 10 minutes. Remove the cherries with a slotted spoon and serve with vanilla ice cream.

The poaching liquid is fantastic to serve as a beverage! Just strain out the cinnamon and orange peel, then serve hot or cold!
