Ingredients
- 2 c. fresh mango, diced, plus more for garnish
- zest of 1 lime
- 2 tsp. fresh lime juice
- 2 to 4 tbsp. The Fresh Market Coconut Palm Sugar (adjust sugar depending on mango’s natural sweetness)
- ½ tsp. ground cardamom
- pinch of fine salt
- 2 c. whole milk yogurt
- 2 tbsp. water
- 1 c. ice cubes, or to your taste
- mint leaves, for garnish
- thinly sliced lime, for garnish
Directions
Combine the mango and next 5 ingredients in a blender until smooth. Add yogurt and water and blend again. Add ice cubes (more ice if you like a thicker shake and less ice for a thinner consistency) and blend until smooth. Pour shake into glasses and garnish with mint, cubed mango, and lime, if desired.
Cook’s note: This is an easy recipe to adjust with ingredient substitutions. Experiment with flavor profiles and find the lassi that suits you. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:
-
Sweeteners – any sweetener will work, from honey to stevia or agave
-
Yogurt alternatives – coconut yogurt, almond yogurt, cashew yogurt
-
Lime alternatives – any citrus from orange to lemon or grapefruit can be substituted
-
Cardamom alternatives – India is full of spice, so there are lots of possible substitutions. Try one spice or a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, or pumpkin pie spice. For a more savory taste, try a pinch of saffron threads, ground cumin, or turmeric.
-
Additions – If you want an even more tropical taste, add pineapple or coconut when blending the mango. Be sure to adjust your yogurt measurements to have equal parts fruit and yogurt.
