Meet the Curators

Learn how our experts source the freshest, best-tasting, most unique items for you to enjoy.

We bring you the best of the best, every day. Here’s how.

Our experts search locally and internationally for the best products they can find, from seasonal produce to restaurant-quality beef. Their relationships with ranchers, growers and producers are built on trust, and that trust yields some of the highest quality, most delicious food you can find.

>> Watch the videos below to learn more about our process, from the field to our stores and, most importantly, your table.

Relationships & Trust

When we look at our produce, we don’t just see tomatoes, strawberries, Brussels sprouts and melons. We see long-term relationships with growers who carefully select only the biggest, freshest, most flavorful fruits and vegetables for our stores.

Our avocados are a great (big) example of how better partnerships lead to better products. They’re sourced exclusively from Del Ray Avocado, a family-owned company that supplies us with special varieties—like extra-large, extra-creamy Reed Avocados.

You’ll find a wide variety of produce in our stores—nearly three times as much as other grocers. This includes harder-to-find items, along with prepped-in-store produce that saves you time without sacrificing quality.

Quality & Craftsmanship

Our “lowest” grade of meat is better than the competition’s highest. Why? We prioritize three key differentiators.

First, marbling. Our steaks are generously marbled for the kind of rich, buttery flavor you’d find in a five-star restaurant.

Second, aging. Our 14-day aging process ensures every cut is perfectly tender.

Last but not least, craftsmanship. Our certified butchers cut and trim everything to perfection, so you can bring home ingredients that are 100% delicious, from the first bite to the last.

Taste & Tradition

We carefully select the finest cheeses from sources near and far, including the “king of cheese,” Parmigiano Reggiano.

Our search for the best Parmigiano Reggiano started in Parma, where cheesemakers have been crafting this beloved variety for more than 800 years. We visited numerous dairies in the region to learn about their processes and taste their creations.

After much deliberation, we selected cheese produced by a single dairy for its superior taste, complexity and appearance. Our Parmigiano Reggiano is aged in Italy for 24 months before making its way to our stores—and to your kitchen.

Freshness & Flavor

Good olive oil is a kitchen essential. We guarantee quality and freshness in every bottle on our shelves.

That’s because they’ve all been hand-selected by a certified olive oil expert (and Master Taster), trained to identify the hallmarks of high-quality, great-tasting olive oil.

We only carry extra virgin, simply because extra virgin olive oil adheres to the highest standards and is the freshest on the market.

Many of our olive oils also include harvest dates, so you can ensure you’re purchasing a fresh, flavorful product.
