Our Favorite 2023 Food Trends
The new year is a great time to turn over a new leaf, especially when that means discovering delicious foods. Need a place to start? A few flavorful trends have our mouths watering this year—starting with Eastern Mediterranean coastal cuisine. Also called Levantine, this cuisine is known for vibrant spices like za’atar, sumac and harissa. They bring a touch of the exotic to everyday dishes—including our recipe for Zibdiyit Gambari, a spicy shrimp and tomato stew. Plant-based eating continues to evolve as well, with more innovative twists on traditional staples like ravioli. And if you haven’t tried botanicals yet, now’s the time. You’ll find floral notes blooming in beverages and beyond. Finally, one of our favorite trends is the adoption of Mexican cuisine as America’s new favorite comfort food. From hot sauces to carnitas to cilantro, the flavors of Mexico are popping up everywhere. So, Happy New Year—and happy eating!

Eat Your Greens
A leader in high-tech, sustainable farming, AeroFarms uses state-of-the-art indoor, vertical farms to grow its microgreens and baby greens. And these small-but-mighty veggies pack a healthy punch. Taste them for yourself and discover why they’re one of our favorite fresh, new ways to eat our greens!
The Story Behind the Greens with Heather Hart, Category Manager, Produce
What are microgreens? Microgreens are a younger version of the leafy greens and herbs that we’re accustomed to. They sometimes go from seed to harvest in as little as a few days.
Are they better for you? According to the USDA, nutrient-dense microgreens can contain up to five times more vitamins and carotenoids than their mature plant counterparts.
How do they taste? Microgreens have a stronger flavor than mature greens, and the more intense flavor really makes them a great eating experience.
Any tips for how to use them? The applications for microgreens are extensive, and AeroFarms offers a free digital cookbook with ideas. I love to mix AeroFarms microgreens with an organicgirl salad for a slightly fancier, more nutritious meal. Microgreens also make great toppings for burgers, sandwiches and tacos.
